The lakes and mountains of southern New Zealand have to be seen to be believed – they are truly breathtaking and no photo or video can do them justice – you really do have to see them for yourself! Our tour takes you by luxury, air-conditioned coach from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo, Aoraki/Mount Cook, Tasman Glacier, Queenstown and lastly to the awesome Fiordland National Park by light aircraft.

Sunday 11 MarchbldWe depart Christchurch this morning and travel south across the Canterbury Plains, then turn inland to Mackenzie Country (named after a 19th century sheep rustler) where we will stop for lunch at Morelea Farm. After lunch we will proceed to the beautiful, turquoise coloured Lake Tekapo. We make a stop to view the Church of the Good Shepherd before proceeding to Peppers Bluewater Resort, where we will base ourselves for two nights. Buffet dinner in the hotel is included this evening.
Monday 12 MarchbldThis morning we travel past Lake Pukaki to Aoraki/Mt Cook – at 3,754 metres it is the highest peak in Australasia. There will be the opportunity to take an alpine trail walk and/or visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. We will also get up close and personal with Tasman Glacier as we board a custom built boat to journey across the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake. Lunch is included, as is a buffet dinner this evening back at Peppers Bluewater Resort.
Tuesday 13 MarchbToday we continue on through yet more stunning scenery up to Lindis Pass, alongside the mighty Clutha River and through the spectacular Kawarau gorge to Arrowtown gold-rush village and then on to NZ’s premier year-round alpine resort – Queenstown. Queenstown sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, set against the dramatic Southern Alps. Upon arrival, check in to The Rees Hotel for the next three nights.
Wednesday 14 MarchbThis morning we take a spectacular 35 minute flight across glaciers, rivers, lakes & rainforest to the truly spectacular Fiordland National Park where we will take an unforgettable scenic cruise through the sheer mountains of stunning Milford Sound. We will also return to Queenstown by air.
N.B. Flights may be cancelled if weather conditions are poor, in which case we will reschedule the trip for the following day by coach to Milford (approx. 5 hours) and return by air (again weather permitting).
Thursday 15 MarchbDay at leisure. A chance to enjoy one or more of the optional activities Queenstown has to offer. Renowned for adventure sports such as bungy jumping and jetboat rides, it is also a base for exploring the region’s vineyards and historic mining towns.
This evening you might like to join the vintage steam ship, TSS Earnslaw for a cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Station for dinner (supplement payable).
Friday 16 MarchbToday we depart Queenstown by air back to the UK, or you may wish to continue on to our Pre-Test Tour to the Bay of Islands.
