NEGOMBOOn arrival in Sri Lanka, transfer to the nearby seaside town of Negombo (approx. 20 mins) and check into your deluxe room at the Jetwing Beach Hotel. Remainder of day at leisure to recover from the long journey.
Friday 13 March bl
NEGOMBO – HABARANAThis morning we head to the Cultural Triangle, stopping en-route for lunch. After lunch we will continue onto the world heritage listed Golden Temple of Dambulla which sits 160 metres above road level and consists of 5 caves featuring numerous murals and approx. 150 statues of Buddha.
We then continue on to Habarana, where we check into our deluxe rooms at the Cinnamon Lodge Hotel for a 3 night stay.
Saturday 14 March b
HABARANAThis morning we head to the nearby ruins of the 5th century city, Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage site. If you wish, you may climb the paths and steps to the top of the 180 metre high rock fortress, upon which King Kassapa had built his palace
Late afternoon, we will head to Minneriya National Park for a jeep safari. Minneriya is most famous for its large elephant and bird populations but you may also spot deer, sambar, monkeys and, very rarely, leopards.

ANURADHAPURA DAY TRIPThis morning we visit the archaeological site of Sri Lanka’s first capital – the UNESCO World Heritage listed Sacred City of Anuradhapura. See the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world – over 2,200 years old – the sacred Bodhi Tree, which was allegedly propagated from the original Bodhi tree – under which the Buddha gained enlightenment – and numerous archaeological and architectural structures, some of which are still used to this day. Lunch included.
Monday 16 March bl
HABARANA – KANDYToday we depart Habarana and head to the Royal City of Kandy, stopping off en-route in a spice garden in Matale for a guided tour, followed by lunch.
After lunch, we continue on to Kandy, where we check into our deluxe rooms at the Earl’s Regency Hotel for a 2 night stay.
Tuesday 17 March b
KANDY TOURToday we take a tour of Kandy, visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens in nearby Peradeniya, Kandy Lake, the bazaar and the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
Wednesday 18 March bc
KANDY – GALLEThis morning we depart Kandy and head to Galle. En-route we will visit a tea plantation in Giragama.
On arrival in Galle, we will check into the Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel – our home for the next six nights.
This evening we will host our pre-Test Cocktail Party – a chance to meet those joining our tour for the Galle Test only. Canapés and drinks included.
Thursday 19 – Monday 23 March b
1st Test, Galle International Cricket StadiumOne of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world with the dramatic backdrop of the imposing Dutch Fort and the ocean on two sides.
The stadium is just 5 minutes’ drive from the Lighthouse Hotel and return transfers are included.

GalleThis evening, we will host a private ‘Cricket’ Cocktail Party where you will have the opportunity to hear the opinions of, and meet and chat personally with, our cricket celebrity guest. Drinks & canapés included.

Tuesday 24 March b
Galle – UK or The Blue Water optionIf you are heading home today, we will transfer you to the Bandaranaike International Airport for your flight (most arrive in the UK on the same day).
Alternatively, carry on to our Blue Water option and/or the 2nd Test in Colombo.
