Great Ocean Road Option
21-23 December 2010 (3 days)
Following the
3rd Vodafone Test in Perth, fly to Melbourne and then take an overnight
road trip down the Great Ocean Road. You could see the Great Ocean
Road in one day, but to fully appreciate it, it really deserves at
least two days!

Fly to Melbourne (3 ˝ hour flight + 3 hour time change) and transfer by
coach to the Crown Promenade Hotel for one night. Evening at leisure |

Wed 22 Dec |
|
|
Early start down the Princes Highway to Geelong and then on to the Great
Ocean Road. The Great Ocean Road region hugs the contours of Victoria's
rugged south west coast and offers visitors one of Australia's greatest
and most spectacular coastal drives. Visit some of Australia’s best surf
beaches, spot kangaroos and koalas in their natural habitat. Travel
through historic Apollo Bay before heading inland to the ‘Great Otway
National Park’ and walk through an ancient rainforest. Check in to our
overnight accommodation, before heading for dinner at the convivial Apollo Bay Hotel. |

After a breakfast, we head for the iconic ‘12 Apostles’ –
massive limestone rock formations rising from the sea. Helicopter rides available at
own expense. We then visit Loch Ard Gorge – the site of a famous 19th
century shipwreck. We lunch in the popular fishing village of Port Campbell (own
expense). After lunch we continue our journey past more spectacular rock
formations - London Bridge, Bay Of Islands Coastal Park, Boat Bay and
Peterborough. We return to Melbourne via an inland route travelling
through open farmland. |
