Great Ocean Road Option

 21-23 December 2010 (3 days)

Following the 3rd Vodafone Test in Perth, fly to Melbourne and then take an overnight road trip down the Great Ocean Road. You could see the Great Ocean Road in one day, but to fully appreciate it, it really deserves at least two days!

  TOUR ITINERARY

Tue 21 Dec     Fly to Melbourne (3 ˝ hour flight + 3 hour time change) and transfer by coach to the Crown Promenade Hotel for one night. Evening at leisure

Wed 22 Dec     Early start down the Princes Highway to Geelong and then on to the Great Ocean Road. The Great Ocean Road region hugs the contours of Victoria's rugged south west coast and offers visitors one of Australia's greatest and most spectacular coastal drives. Visit some of Australia’s best surf beaches, spot kangaroos and koalas in their natural habitat. Travel through historic Apollo Bay before heading inland to the ‘Great Otway National Park’ and walk through an ancient rainforest. Check in to our overnight accommodation, before heading for dinner at the convivial Apollo Bay Hotel.

Thu 23 Dec        After a breakfast, we head for the iconic ‘12 Apostles’ – massive limestone rock formations rising from the sea. Helicopter rides available at own expense. We then visit Loch Ard Gorge – the site of a famous 19th century shipwreck. We lunch in the popular fishing village of Port Campbell (own expense). After lunch we continue our journey past more spectacular rock formations - London Bridge, Bay Of Islands Coastal Park, Boat Bay and Peterborough. We return to Melbourne via an inland route travelling through open farmland.
